I have spent more than twenty-five years in education as a classroom teacher, principal, curriculum director, instructional coach, and special educator. That range, from high-performing districts to diverse ones, California to New Jersey, is where the practice comes from, along with the colleagues and connections I have built along the way.

After retiring from public education, I earned New Jersey certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) in 2025. I am still in schools today, working directly with students and the teachers who support them. I currently work at Newmark as an instructional technology coach. It is the most rewarding work of my career.

AI literacy is a distinct part of that work, and I have been in it since 2023. I led a district’s first structured exploration of AI in teaching, put the tools directly in front of a board curriculum committee, and tied them to a goal that board already held, which was giving every student more individual writing feedback than any teacher could deliver alone. The committee approved adoption in that same meeting. Teacher training followed within weeks.

I now work at the classroom level, hands-on, dispelling myths and misconceptions about what AI can and cannot do. What I have learned since 2023 is that the tools matter less than the process a community uses to decide about them.

I am a lifelong member of the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association and its Foundation for Educational Administration, and for the past five years I have mentored novice administrators through New Jersey Leaders to Leaders.
